[The Cave]

[Large Cave Next to a Stream, the cave will be a good place for shelter and protection from the elements. This is a liminal space]

[Desert with Cacti, With the knife we could get water from a cactus, this is very important because then we have two sources of water.  Water is the most important thing in order to survive.)

[Fresh Water Lake.  The lake will be a great place to cool off and shower when it is hot.  It will also be a source for water. This is also a liminal space.]

[River/Ocean full of fish.  These could be used as a great source of food; if we find out how to catch them]

Section 09 Members:

  • - Create a map of the island. You can use photoshop elements if you're editing a picture of an island, or paint if you're drawing the island from scratch. You can have one member draw the outline, another member labels it. Make sure you include where the liminal spaces are.
  • - Determine the walking distance between each place. From the cave to (southwestern) to the northeastern side takes about 2 days
    • Cave to Lake: 1 day
    • Cave to Desert: 1 day
    • Lake to Desert: 1 day and 6 hours
    • The Lake, Cave, and Desert to closest ocean shore: 30 minutes

Good work section 06, but you need one more picture.

I just finished up =] Thanks for doing the distance between locations list

DeAnna said

at 2:31 pm on Oct 26, 2008

I didnt do that. In fact its not done?

Kelsie =] said

at 2:31 pm on Oct 26, 2008

Umm...I'll send out an email to the group and see which of the maps we should use.

Kelsie =] said

at 2:32 pm on Oct 26, 2008

did you draw the island?

DeAnna said

at 2:32 pm on Oct 26, 2008

Yeah. Skills, right?

DeAnna said

at 2:32 pm on Oct 26, 2008

Should i label things?

Kelsie =] said

at 2:33 pm on Oct 26, 2008

I dunno, let's just leave both islands up and see what Mrs. L says =]

DeAnna said

at 2:34 pm on Oct 26, 2008

Ok

Kelsie =] said

at 2:38 pm on Oct 26, 2008

Okay, everything we needed is done for now. Nice work =]

DeAnna said

Thanks Kels!

DeAnna said

at 2:46 pm on Oct 26, 2008

What about the table?

DeAnna said

at 2:50 pm on Oct 26, 2008

Someone could label liminal spaces on our maps.

Kelsie =] said

at 3:13 pm on Oct 26, 2008

I think by label the liminal spaces, she just meant to label where the desert, ocean, lake, and cave.

Suzie said

at 3:49 pm on Oct 26, 2008

hey section 9 we need to work on our communication skills! so I'm going to start by asking is there anything else that needs to be done? I'll volunteer to do anything else we need to do.

Suzie said

at 3:53 pm on Oct 26, 2008

Where the lake is isn't very clear in our second map. Could someone either email it to me or revise the map so that we can have the lake not being part of the ocean? Thanks!

Suzie said

at 4:03 pm on Oct 26, 2008

Oh also I noticed that the 2 maps are very different; in the first map ,the cave isn't in the right location specified by the direction (southwestern), and in the second map the island is practically the entire desert, though it should be on specific area (note the directions). We need to decide which map to use and revise them. I don't know when anyone else will be or is online, so just email me or comment on here...

Kelsie =] said

at 5:02 pm on Oct 26, 2008

Hmmm, I'll revise the map. We have to decide which map to use though.

Kelsie =] said

at 5:26 pm on Oct 26, 2008

Okay, if any other changes need to be made on the first map, just let me know.

Suzie said

at 7:41 pm on Oct 26, 2008

One more change: There needs to be a river next to the cave. I think it will be all good then!

I am impressed by everything you have done, Island 4.

Our class we need to vote in class on what materials we still want to bring because we havent really decided that yet

Mac said

Great Map

DeAnna said

at 11:19 am on Oct 27, 2008

I vote on map #3. Whoever did it (looks great).

Kelsie =] said

at 11:36 am on Oct 27, 2008

Nooooo, map three was not ours. We should use map 1 or 2. Check your first class. I sent out a vote for the map we should use.

Harsha Indian said

at 11:43 am on Oct 27, 2008

Unfortunately Map 3 was an accident, so we can't use that. DeAnna is actually making a new one, and I think that's the best so far. We also know that "something" bad will happen on Friday, so we need a plan. Our group agrees that it might be the stream going dry, or something of the sort, so we need an "emergency plan". We also have to finalize what items we are taking.

Adam said

did you change pictures olivia?

Kelsie =] said

at 6:15 pm on Oct 27, 2008

Nice job, everyone! This day is complete.

Mac said

at 7:01 pm on Oct 27, 2008

I think that with the choices we had left or what we narrowed it down to, we should bring the food, because the seat cushion the mosquito repelant and the compass wont do us any good at all

Kelsie =] said

at 8:30 pm on Oct 27, 2008

I agree with you. I went ahead and added the first aid kit and supplies inside it.

ctreischmann said

at 8:04 pm on Oct 28, 2008

Okay guys, I have a map that it dosent take so long to get around on. But if you guys are fine with this map then that is ok too.

Kelsie =] said

at 8:32 pm on Oct 28, 2008

If you email your map to me, I can show it two DeAnna and Mac (the mapmakers) and see what they think.

Kelsie =] said

Brigitte Leschhorn said

Some of the items in your first aid kit were unlikely and unacceptable. They were taken out by me.

Kelsie =] said

at 6:15 pm on Nov 2, 2008

Okay this day is complete. I went through and checked everything.

The picture of the map is good and very detailed and it demonstrates the set up of our island. Good job.

Harsha Indian said

I found a grammar error, so I'm going to go correct them. It's kinda late, but I thought I'd just make a final touch.

jhowell said
