Works Cited

  • -          Each section must go back to their work and find all your citations (pictures, websites, and other) that you used or quoted.
  • -          Put in the correct citation for each one on this “Works Cited” page.
  • -          Works should be in alphabetical order.
  • -          Reads pgs. 107-109 of A Pocket Style Manual
  • -          For an easy citation guide (especially for pictures) go here: http://micdsstudents.wikispaces.com/Citation+Guide
  • -          For a breakdown of how to cite correctly from the web: pgs. 138-139 of your Pocket Style Manual
  • -          Make sure to replace links with parenthetical citations.

o   Example: “Cannibalism was widespread among ancient cultures” (Roach).

§  Roach, John. “Cannibalism Normal for Early Humans?” National

Geographic News. 10 April 2003. National Geographic. 11 Nov. 2008.

<http://news.nationalgeographic.com/ news/2003/04/0410_030410_

cannibal.html>.

§  In this case, I used the title of the article’s author to cite my source. Remember the period goes AFTER the parenthesis.

§  Notice that if my citation continues on the next line, it should be indented. Also, if my hyperlink is too long, I have to break it up so it goes partly on the next line.

  • -          I will be looking for citations on all information that sounds like it should not be common knowledge.

Check the MICDS Citation guide. It is actually very simple. Don't forget any images!

Okay, everyone needs to do a few citations for their group. I suggest you do your citing either tonight or during your free so you can ask a teacher tomorrow for help if you forget how to cite things. Remember - this page and the last day are the last things we'll be doing on the wiki before we're locked out of it on Friday afternoon! Double check all pages for grammatical errors and any problems with information.
~Keep up the good work everyone!

Okay, don't forget about alphabetizing. I have last period free on Friday so I will be making final edits at that time. We're almost done with the wiki so let's all finish up. Double check everything, spell check everything, we can do it!

Section 9 needs to get started.
They need to cite -
The Map on Day 1
Where they found out about cactus fruit helping with diabetes - Day 2
The picture of the plane debris - Day 3

Other than that...we're done.

DeAnna said

Suzie said

Section 9, I sent out an email but my computer froze up and so I did not get to send out all of the sources!! Darryl please email me the sources and then I can try to divide them amongst us. (I believe there are 16 different sources, including the source Olivia emailed me). Please reply as soon as possible! Thanks!

section 9 you need to get going

Suzie said

In regards to Section 9's citation page we have 16 sites (and most, except one, are websites...but DOUBLE CHECK!) so what we can do is split them up between the four of us. I will do the first four (including the website Olivia sent me), then Olivia the next four, then Adam the next four, and then Darryl gets the last four. If you guys have any questions, comments, or concerns email me or comment here! I sent the sites out by email with help from Darryl so Olivia and Adam, you should have received an email with the sites that need to be cited. Thanks!

Anna, what group are you in? We need to cite your pictures. Are you in section 04?

Suzie said

at 11:38 am on Nov 14, 2008

Hey Section 9, Darryl did all of the sites except the last 2 cites, so Adam can take the second to last site on the email i sent out and Olivia can take the last source on that email. I will do the one Olivia sent me, and then we will be all done for our sites.
